Reading through again (looking for Argus and flowers), and wow. I love this panel: the composition, the way you convey past and present converging, the sense of movement in the snow and geese and Beauty and her father's hands. Beautiful.

I love this page too. Going out of the panel box shows the wild emotion and movement. The father's wide eyes capture his unawareness of reality perfectly. And it can't get over the fact that the beast's eyes in the gate are roses.

Oh! And there's a hint of a face in the gate! How did I miss that before?

Whoa, sir, you're going to scare all of your children with your feverish ramblings. But anyway, so again, no one is saying Elise is dead yet, which is more evidence that she just ran off, in my book. I like the swan motif she's got going on and how the gates are in the shape of a beast's face. I really should see what swans symbolize in case you never get explicit with it. Next page!

Kim M, kudos for thoughts of the face in the gate! I can't stop seeing it now. (And I also can't stop hearing that quote from one of the Scary Movies: "I saw a face." "Did it have a nose?" "Yes." "That sounds like a face." Curse that film.)

Also--WOW WOW WOW! The swans!! I love how completely well everything ties together! And combining with the snow? Brilliant. I wonder if maybe there will be allusions to "The Wild Swans" in the future?

I'm just in awe with this comic. It's beautiful. And this panel is so full of details! I'm loving it so far!
