Now The Beast is being a downer again. That guy. Can't just feel good about something...

Awww, troubled Beast is so adorable O_O <3

Love this page and for some reason missed the last one somehow (HOW) >_< this scene is so indicative of the trust growing between the two and it's so precious :D <3

It's so clearly not that that's the problem, it's that things keep happening that remind him he's not human. Poor guy.

Having an abusive witch of a mother likely doesn't help much, Doodler.

The Doodler
That screws people up /all kinds/ of ways. :(

You going to accept that chamomile tea yet, Beast? Pretty soon Beauty might decide that you need more reassurance than "it's fine..." and then I really *will* be in the "kiss already!" camp... ;)

Gah, and I try so hard to not take sides...

AGHHHHH I just want to give Beast a really big hug right now.

The line starts with me and goes around the block. Twice.
Stitchlingbelle 2nd Jan 8:10 PM, 2015 edit delete reply
Eventually, Beauty is going to go from "it's fine" to "get over it."

Also, further to the previous conversation-- how does he enunciate with dog lips?
Hallan 3rd Jan 10:02 AM, 2015 edit delete reply
There's an excellent answer here, Stitchlingbelle:

it's maaaaagiiiiic (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

I think in spite of his best and most carefully enunciated efforts, he's got a bit of a lisp.
Hallan 3rd Jan 10:36 PM, 2015 edit delete reply
No. No, no, no, no, no. I am not, most emphatically -not-, going to hear the Beast speaking in lithp for the rest of the comic. It's not happening. You take that line back right now.

(Later addendum: This was meant -very- tongue-in-cheek. Apologies for not making that more clear.)
Wysper 4th Jan 3:03 PM, 2015 edit delete reply
What's wrong with a lisp?
Hallan 4th Jan 4:37 PM, 2015 edit delete reply
... Yyeah, I didn't phrase that quite correctly. My apologies to anyone with a lisp out there. I'm not talking about an honest lisp. I'm talking about the stereotypical, overblown Daffy-Duck-on-novocaine "lithp". I have an active imagination.
MsMegan 4th Jan 4:40 PM, 2015 edit delete reply
it's slight -- a bit of breathiness on "S" and "TH" words, because he's relying more on the outflow of air to create the sound than the flick of the tongue off of teeth (Speech pathologists in the family? What? No. Of course not.)

Sorry for ruining your image of this nervous, moody, doglike manchild as dark and serious romantic hero ;)
Anor-Roc Wildheart 1st Jan 6:37 PM, 2017 edit delete reply
...And that is now the song that plays in my head whenever I think of the big fluffy guy. <3
Hallan 5th Jan 1:23 AM, 2015 edit delete reply
That's a very pretty voice. I like it.

For rather obvious reasons, I tend to imagine the Beast as more leonine and regal by default. (Mine is based rather strongly on the Ron Perlman version.) It's been a delight seeing where yours and mine match and mismatch.

If I picture my Beast with a voice besides mine, it's generally along the lines of Andrea Bocelli singing Por Ti Volare.

(Laughs.) Goodness, you have two of my favorite things in one page: the Beast's paws being unable to handle nimble work and a guy running a hand through his hair. Suffice to say my working with a character similar to him in fanfiction resulted in similar kinds of scenes as this. And Beast, I think you're being too hard on yourself (though that is kind of how he rolls). It was the creepy maze's fault. You shouldn't be blaming yourself for what another person (coughamanifestationofyourabusercough) did.
