Hi everyone! Thanks for following Beauty and The Beast at home and on Tumblr. it’s been really inspiring and comforting to feel like someone is out there actually reading the thing. I wanted to bring y’all abreast of what’s going on (exciting times!).

1) I’m getting married in a week, and sneaking off to the Maritimes with The Young Man for our honeymoon. Regular automated updates will continue while I’m away, so while I’ll have to scramble a bit when I get back there shouldn’t be any update days with no new pages

2) I’ve left my full-time gig (like almost everyone else I know, I was working in social games and utterly miserable) and until I sort out a regular freelance schedule or take a part time position, I’ll be at Comic Book Embassy drawing Beauty and The Beast full time. Which leads me to…

3) Commissions. I do ‘em. Freelance. I love it. email or message/ask me about it. Let’s talk. (only-slightly-outdated portfolio here!)

4) We passed 100 followers on Tumblr! That means “unlocking” some bonus content— look for a new animated sequence mid-November! (would be sooner, but the wedding has thrown me for a loop! sorry!)

Any questions, fire me an email or leave me a note in the comments! Thanks for making this such a great experience, everyone!

(Congratulations and good fortune to you on your evolving path!)

There is so much for Beauty to take in, that it just won't flow!

Great story and art. Just discovered your comic and will now follow. Well done. :)

Is that a rosebud design of sorts in the lines of the floor?
MsMegan 19th Dec 11:24 PM, 2012
It is; the macintosh rose motif shows up in a lot of places throughout the castle!
AbigailBrooks 28th Jul 4:24 PM, 2013
Yep, that is a rose crest on the floor. As long as we don't reach "Utena" levels of rose usage and symbolism, though, I think we're good. No worries, Beauty, the Beast is just in the dining hall, fretting because after so many years in isolation, there's finally a girl in the castle. He's waited and practiced for this for years, but he's probably a bit reclusive, so don't mind him.

I'd settled on the macintosh rose design for stained glass windows early on, but dammit, you're right. They might be reading as Utena-esque. Um...well, nobody turns into a car?
AbigailBrooks 31st Jul 4:43 PM, 2013
"And as a term of your contract, I will be transforming you into a shape that pleases me!"

"Um, I'm not sure if I-"

(Utena-movie transformation song plays. His cape goes flying. When it's all over, there is now a car with bull-like horns on the bumper.)

"...I don't even know what I'm supposed to be."

"...Damn, it must have been all of the roses. They must have influe-"

"But didn't you design this castle?"

"...I don't think that's true."

"...Shut up or I'll leave you as a car."

Ahem. Someday I'm sure you'll forgive me for that. Anyway, roses are a huge motif in literature - especially in this story - so I wouldn't even worry about it.

Beauty's so obviously lost and bewildered that it's adorably funny. (Also, I now have the song "Bewitched! Bothered and Bewildered" stuck in my head, but I'm pretty sure I should hold off on thinking of that song until we're a bit further in the story!)

I'm so delighted to have found this comic. It takes real talent to convey this much tone and setting in pure black and white. Would you be willing to post/sell via Patreon or some such the high res epub version? For those that love to read off line it could be really useful to have the chapters consolidated.

he first two acts are available in print volumes in my storenvy shop, and I think the PDF of the first volume is on my patreon archives!
