Someone is smiling!

Yes!! No fighting today!! Although I did have pretty much the exact same face as Beauty in panel two, because for a second there it seemed like Beast was putting her on this really high pedestal, which isn't healthy for anybody in a relationship. And I love how he laughed! It's a shame, but I think we've only seen Beast laugh one or two times, and then only a chuckle, not the proper laugh we see here.

I totally feel for Beauty right now, as someone who had/has to practice smiling without appearing to be in pain. And it's just the sort of I-have-no-idea-where-this-is-going-but-I-can't-let-it-get-awkward reaction I would expect her to have.

Nitpicking question: which of his hands is supposed to be in Panel 2? I can't figure out how the back of his right hand can be towards us and the thumb away, if he's holding her hand with it as in Panel 4. Nothing to see, move along, we were never here, this never happened.

*heavy wink*

Nah, the truth of the matter is, I've been stealing minutes to draw BATB in between end-of-semester grading and a pile of short projects for anthologies and collections. Quality Control has been a bit lacking.

Honestly I'm just happy that you're willing to make sure us Gentle Readers stay entertained, when the completely reasonable alternative would be to say "You know those actual jobs with actual obligations I have? Yeah, see y'all in three weeks."

Well, I promised myself I'd never do that unless it was a dire situation -- webcomics only work if you can stick to your schedule and be disciplined about what needs to get done... I feel like I have an obligation to you, Dear Readers, that it wouldn't be fair to back out of! I guess that's MY contract.

What else is precious, is these two babies ;)

Well, anyway, this explains why Beast has been completely gone on her since she arrived. He had a head start.

Oh my god, her expression in the second panel is priceless. I'd be thrown for a loop too, Beauty - I mean, he could have seen /anything/. With that stroll through the painting room and certain images still fresh in her mind, there could be a lot of possibilities.

The vision actually just being of her smiling at him is certainly one of the nicer options - but I do have to wonder why the fountain would do that. It seems more content to torture the Beast than offer him comfort - so is it purposefully trying to draw them together for its own ends? If it had showed the Beast an image of Beauty yelling at him or crying, he wouldn't have any reason to be hopeful about her. So is it trying to help them break the Beast's curse? Because that would lose it its servant, so I can't help but think that there has to be a more ominous reason for it nudging them together by, among other things, showing the Beast that vision and flinging up suggestive paintings.

At least Beauty takes this fairly well by trying to smile, if nervously. And instead of uh...continuing to express his affections and pushing her, the Beast laughs in response to that. It feels like this could have gone into an argument or some creepy direction, so I'm glad we're veering away from those possibilities.
