i like how in the fourth panel the wind looks a little like a rose as it swirls around him - and then, of course, that damn fountain shows up again.

(will he use it to find beauty? will it reveal the last of his backstory in yet further detail? who knows?)

I thought the roses looked like mouths, like they were doing the whispering. Then the fountain. ......

Well, while we're waiting for the update, I may as well leave a much-belated comment.
I've been following for a few years now and I love every page of this comic. I finally re-read everything and wow, reading all at once is a lovely change of pace. My mind can be a forgetful one, sometimes, so having the whole story in front of me at once helps me see the patterns more easily. I especially love finding patterns, and boy is this comic chock full of 'em! It's a feast for my mind *and* eyes.
Beauty and the Beast, and all it's variations, is my favorite fairy tale (though the Snow Queen admittedly comes in a close second!). It's a story that's been told so many times in so many ways, but I love how you've deconstructed the classic tale in order to construct your own, unique telling of it. It's perfect.
So thank you for sharing this beautiful work with us over the years. Thanks for all the hard work and attention and affection that clearly went into making this. Every update honestly makes my week a little brighter :)

(P.S. I also happened to check out Secret Loves of Geek Girls a while ago and must say, I adore the 2 short comics of yours, one of which really resonated with me. It's comforting to know there are others out there who have similar experiences to me :D)

Keep up the good work, Ms. Megan!

Ya know, I just noticed that the shadowy lines on his hand in the second panel could pass for blood.

Aaaaand we have reached the Fountain That Stalks, which was probably at the center of the maze. Given that it's an inanimate object, I shouldn't feel so much dread over seeing it, but I can't help but hiss, "Oh it's you. Of course it's you. You're the worst!" Of course it's going to torment him--and witness him--in his final moments. It's done so before.
