Not Swan Dad, I'm not sure how much you could have done to keep your business afloat. Even if you were the most amazing merchant in the world, sometimes things just go wrong--ships go down in the stormy seas, pirates attack and steal your merchandise, the demands of the market shift. There's only so much you can do. And that's not even getting started on the magic surrounding your family, which may have had something to do with your fall from grace.
As it is, I think your family is doing well. One of your daughters is happily married and has a child. Another one has fallen in love off-page and is possibly a successful (smut?) writer, but is certainly not discontent with her lot in life. And your youngest is growing into a brave and compassionate person, and what more could you want from your child, really?
Beauty's forgiveness is doubtlessly something he's needed to hear for a while now. I hope he listens to her.
