I agree with the above haunting comment. I haven't said it yet, but this prologue was very entracing to me when I first read it - like I was sinking into some dark waters but not minding in the least. And from my experiences with fae in fiction - and with magical contracts in general - I want to scream that this is a bad idea. A very, very bad idea. Even if we wouldn't have a story without it. DON'T TRUST THE FAE. Ahem. Next page.
There's something devious about words like contract and bargain, not sure if that comes from old movies like disney's the little mermaid or the black cauldron, but it's stuck with me that that word is never good. Although if it's done to save Beauty's life I will have to say that it is definitely a good thing!
