Books offer a great escape, and I suppose in their situation they might have nothing to lose by embracing the comfort therein, but in general, one should always be careful not to let the books consume them.

I love that last line! And heavens, what I wouldn't do for that library. And the banter between Beauty and Beast is fantastic. She still doesn't trust him entirely, but you can see her warming up. And I love how you drew the Beast. In the first panel he looks so genuinely pleased, whereas in the last panel he emotes something completely different. Considering he's in an animal form, that takes amazing talent. Kudos.

Thank you SO MUCH! I've been flakey with keeping the characters consistent-looking, but I'm finally settling into The Beast's face. It helps that I have a little maquette of him on my desk for ref (and a studiomate's dog who visits from time to time...)

That last line might be more truthful than it first seems... remember, he can't lie! ;)

I'm eventually going to have to lay off the fireplace reveal. XD

Wow! I love how Beast is genuinely pleased in the first panel and How they are bonding more. This is why I love books- they bring people together!

there's going to be a lot of that...heck, maybe we should start a bookclub! We could all read Metamorphoses or The Golden Ass together...

I'm betting in her society, this is *mind-blowing* wealth, too.

Something about Beauty's expression in the lower panel... she's the loveliest I've seen her. I wonder if Beast agrees.

Also, he is hilarious.

He's become a bit more droll than I originally scripted him as being!

Oh. My. ::sighs::

I'm just going to sit here silently a moment and take all that in. ...And appreciate the Beast's expression and so-dry comment. Splendid.

I love the Beast's fond expression in the second panel. The library is lovely, of course - and it's quite a large collection for that time period, I would think. They both agree about how comforting books can be and...yes, that is a bit of a droll comment, as he reminds her of what she said and somewhat corrects her on it. If he was truly heartless, I doubt he would be sympathetic, after all.

That heartless comment reminds me of Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. Although the Beast is much kinder than Heartless Howl, the lovable fop.
