Now I'm thinking something different... perhaps it's a clue to release him from his contract? Or even... maybe... his father's name?

Did we ever get interpretations for the flowers featured *with* the name? Anyone?

There are three strains of nightshade so here are all of them listed:
Nightshade, Bittersweet: Truth
Nightshade, Deadly: Silence, Secrets
Nightshade, Enchanter: Sorcery, Witchcraft (it also lists Skepticism)

Adonis (Pheasant's Eye): Sorrowful Remembrance

Solomon's Seal: Secrets, Discretion

Pretty much sums up his contract/curse and himself. The similarities between the flowers and his own disposition towards his past leads me to believe that "Argus" is his own name. Also, the fact that the name has a masculine ending points towards it belonging to a man, more so than an aristocratic female.

The Beast looks so frantic and distracted - his dog-like features seem to especially come out when he's worried like this. I can almost hear the anxious whining coming from him. He nearly spills that bowl of water and Beauty is like, "Jeez, are you okay, what's so important about this name, sir?" Guess, Beauty. Guess.

I'm starting to miss the additions of cattservant.
